AVID Excel

AVID Excel 7th and 8th grade courses are yearlong electives.  This sequence develops English language learners' academic vocabulary across content areas, their academic reading, writing, and oral language skills, their research skills, their study skills and their self-advocacy skills.  Students learn about the college preparatory course sequence and develop an academic plan.  Small-group scholar groups, tutorials, and motivational activities linked with the AVID elective classes are integrated into these courses to support content area achievement.  The AVID Excel courses focus on acceleration, rather than remediation.

City Year

At Clinton Middle School, City Year corps members serve in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade classrooms to provide in-class academic support and mentoring to students.

City Year's after school program is dedicated to providing Clinton Middle School students with high quality academic enrichment.  In addition to academic tutoring, the program offers Educational Clubs such as Science, Arts, an Sports.

The Program is open to all students at Clinton Middle School who have completed and returned a City Year After-School Application.  An Application can be obtained from the City Year in room B-149, or in the main office
